Stress Focus Groups

An increasing number of organisations are looking for new ways to invest in their people; to improve working conditions and to create a fertile landscape for productive behaviour. It’s no secret that if you look after your employees it is more likely they will feel motivated to go the extra mile when needed, and less likely to move to another employer for the sake of a small pay rise, thus, saving money for the organisation.

So how do you find out what initiatives your staff will respond to? Simple, you ask them. This is best done in a structured exercise designed to extract a large amount of quality information from those attending.

Of course there is a lot more involved than just getting a few people together for an ‘honest chat.’

A typical Stress Management Focus Group conducted by StressCHECK Training  will include the following:

  • A background consultation – this will give us the opportunity to get a general feel for the organisation and agree a plan of action.
  • A preparation session – this will include a meeting with persons from the HR team, Union representatives, Occupational health and any relevant others. This will allow us to gather information on matters such as sickness, grievances and staff surveys, which can help steer the focus group questions.
  • A final session format is agreed with the client.
  • Conduct sessions – each group is normally between 15 – 20 people and we recommend speaking to at least 10% of the workforce with representation from as many business areas as possible. The questions asked will relate to HSE Management Standards, and the HSE Indicator Tool (stress survey) will also be included.
  • An immediate de-brief with members of the management team
  • Final report – this is a comprehensive report detailing all feedback from the group sessions along with recommendations if necessary.

Our fees for this service vary depending on the size of the organisation. Some of our clients only need us for a day where as with others it can be for a week or longer.
